The Verona Cemetery is located at 565 N. Main St., just south of Cross Country Rd. and across from Sugar Creek Elementary School. It neighbors the smaller St. Andrew Catholic cemetery. The City of Verona took over the management of the cemetery from the Verona Cemetery Association in 2017.
Anyone can purchase a plot in the Verona Cemetery; you do not need to be a Verona resident. The City of Verona will purchase back any plots for the original purchase price.
If you would like to purchase a plot, please fill out and return the Cemetery Plot Application form. If you know the specific plot you would like to purchase, please list the section, plot number and space. Cemetery rules and regulations
- No monument taller than forty-eight inches (48”) may be installed without permission from the Sextant.
- The flush cement base must be no larger than 4 inches less than the width of the lot and 24 inches deep. The max size of the flush cement base for a single lot would be 44 inches wide and 24 inches deep and for a double lot, 92 inches wide and 24 inches deep. The flush cement base must be centered within the header section of the lot (48 inches by 24 inches for a single, 96 inches by 24 inches for a double, etc.). The raised, 3D base on top of the flush cement base must be at least 4 inches in from the edge of the flush cement base on all sides. All decorations, flowers, vases, etc. must be placed within the boundaries of the flush cement base. Any deviations from these maximums must receive permission from the Sextant.
- Within one (1) year of burial there must be a permanent monument installed on the lot.
- No permanent survey markers may be removed at any time.
- When taking care of your lot, all waste, grass cuttings, soil, etc. must be removed from the cemetery.
- Please promptly remove any decorations in disrepair or they will be removed by cemetery staff.
- No more than one vault and four cremations (inurnments) are allowed on each lot.
- Vaults are required for all burials with the exception of cremation burials.
- All burials and installation of all monuments are to be done only by authorized professionals.
- No glass decorations.
- Lights are allowed if they do not spin, blink, flash, strobe or change color quickly. Lights must be dim so as to only illuminate your lot.
- Anything being placed in the ground must be adjacent to the sides of the flush cement base and cannot be wider than 1 inch in diameter.
- Rules are subject to change without notice. Official rules shall be posted on the City of Verona website and at the cemetery.
