Construction includes spot repairs to concrete pavement and road overlays
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $9.96 million contract with prime contractor Chippewa Concrete Services, Inc. of Chippewa Falls for a pavement improvement project on WIS 35/64 from 150th Avenue northeast of Houlton to County C and WIS 64 from WIS 35 to 142nd Street in New Richmond, all in St. Croix County.
Construction is scheduled to start Monday, April 13, with the contractor mobilizing and setting up traffic control. Lane restrictions will start the following week.
These segments of highway are showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
Performing spot repairs on the driving lanes in both directions where deterioration exists
Overlaying existing concrete with asphalt at select locations in both directions of travel
Installing new pavement markings and shoulder rumble strips
During construction, traffic will be staged to allow for a single lane of traffic in both directions on WIS 35/64 and WIS 64 to remain open at all times. Temporary ramp closures and access directions will be necessary to facilitate construction. Advanced notice of disruptions will be provided.
Construction is scheduled for completion in early July.
