INDIANAPOLIS — University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point have received invitations to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
UW-Oshkosh (30-8-1) claimed one of 22 at-large bids into the 64-team field, while UW-Stevens Point (30-13) earned an automatic bid by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament (presented by Culver’s).
UW-Oshkosh will travel to St. Louis, Missouri, for regional action and face Illinois College (33-10) in its opening game. The Titans are making their 13th NCAA appearance. Washington University in St. Louis (28-5), the host institution, and Capital University (Ohio) (21-17) will also compete in the regional.
UW-Stevens Point will travel to Winona, Minnesota, for its regional competition and open against the host institution Saint Mary’s University (36-6). The Pointers are appearing in the NCAA championship for the third straight year and 10th time in program history. Calvin University (Michigan) (30-13) and Bethany Lutheran College (Minnesota) (32-9) will also participate in the regional.
The regional round will be held May 14-16. Sixteen sites will host four teams at each regional site. The team advancing from each regional will compete in the super regional round May 21 and 22 hosted by eight institutions. The finals, hosted by the City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, will be held May 28-June 3 at Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia. All rounds will use a double-elimination format.
