WHITEWATER, Wis. — Chloe Edgren has begun her duties as the interim head coach of the UW-Whitewater gymnastics team and will lead the program through 2026-27.
A familiar face within the program, Edgren has been part of the Warhawks for more than 10 years, first as a student-athlete and then as an assistant coach.
"Chloe brings a deep understanding of the Warhawk tradition and a strong vision for the gymnastics program's future," said Ryan Callahan, assistant chancellor and director of athletics. "Her experiences as a student-athlete and coach position her to guide the program as it continues to build upon its longstanding success, and we are thrilled that she's part of our university."
"I am extremely honored and excited to take on this new role," said Edgren. "I've had the honor of being a UW-Whitewater student, supporter, and for the last few years coach, and it is so exciting to be able to help the next generation of Warhawk gymnasts excel in the gym, in the classroom, and in life."
Edgren competed for UW-Whitewater from 2015-18, helping the Warhawks capture Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships in 2015 and 2017 and back-to-back National Collegiate Gymnastics Association national titles in 2017 and 2018. Individually, she earned All-America honors on vault twice, finished as the conference runner-up on the apparatus, and qualified as an alternate on vault for the NCAA Ames Regional in 2015.
Following her graduation, Edgren worked as a youth coach at SALTO Gymnastics in the Milwaukee area before returning to her alma mater in 2020 as an assistant coach. Over the last six years, she has played a key role in the development of Warhawk student-athletes while helping maintain the program's competitive standards.
As interim head coach, Edgren will oversee all aspects of the program while continuing to foster the culture, values and competitive excellence.
"I look forward to honoring the history of our program, highlighting the athletes that have come before us, and empowering our athletes to be confident gymnasts, teammates, and people," added Edgren.
Edgren earned a B.S. in environmental science from UW-Whitewater in 2018. Her husband, Anthony, is also a Warhawk, earning a B.A. in communication in 2018 after competing for the UWW wrestling team. UW-Whitewater will open the position for a search following the 2027 campaign.
