Projects that are either in design in preparation for bidding or have been budgeted, being bid, or are open and actively being constructed.
2026 street reconstruction
Large water tower painting
The City has approved funding for typical maintenance of its large water tower. The project includes the following work: The base bid is the repainting of a 400,000-gallon elevated tank and miscellaneous repairs. Alternative bids include providing spray foam insulation and a temperature probe.
The project is to be completed in summer of 2026.
Lagoon Du Noord (Tecumseh Ave.) bridge replacement
The Lagoon Du Noord bridge on Tecumseh Avenue is being replaced in 2027. The City has been awarded a 100% federal funded grant to perform the replacement. The City has hired MSA to design and administer the project. There is a public information meeting scheduled for August 28th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Monona Community Center - 1011 Nichols Rd.
The City is planning a second phase in its Reach 64 stormwater improvements. The City has a 60-foot-wide by 300-foot-long section of right-of-way between McKenna Rd. and Midmoor Rd. in which the City is constructing a new underground wet detention chamber to help prevent future inundation of its lakes and waterways with sediment and other organic debris. The device will also help serve as a flash flood prevention device by slowing the flow of stormwater runoff to the lake, helping also to prevent scouring of the lakebed at the outfall less than a half mile away.
During construction, parking restrictions will be put into place along Midmoor Rd., McKenna Rd., Panther Trl. and Kelly Plc. See the map below for reference to these restrictions. This will be enforced during weekdays, including nights. This is to prevent potential damage to personal property and vehicles, and to prevent possible injury as these streets will be used daily for hauling and deliveries.
