For Von Serig and his staff of professionals, serving people at Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Madison is more than business as usual — it’s a family tradition. His parents started the company in 1966, he took the helm more than 40 years ago and his son, Ryan Wilson, now co-owns the company with him. He even has hopes that his 11-year-old granddaughter will eventually join in the family legacy.
“We pride ourselves on taking wonderful care of our patients during their journey,” Serig said. “Our love for our patients is our strongest asset.” Generations of customers return for help with hearing loss, and the top service and deep roots in the community are only some of the reasons why Beltone Hearing Aid Center was named Best Hearing Aid Center in the People’s Choice Awards. “We treat our customers like family,” he said.
No-cost, no-obligation hearing evaluation
One in eight people in the U.S. have hearing loss. Because hearing loss often comes on gradually, people frequently don’t notice, Serig said. They may delay addressing the issue until it worsens significantly, or family and friends begin to comment on it.
He recommends a hearing test at the first sign of any change in hearing so that hearing loss can be addressed early if necessary. “There’s no cost or obligation for a hearing test or consultation,” Serig said. “A baseline hearing test might show that you don’t need hearing aids. We’ll keep an eye on that and retest you in a year for free to see if there’s any change.”
Top technology for hearing loss
Beltone is a pioneer in hearing aid technology, Serig said. The brand was the first hearing aid to connect with smartphones and is currently the only brand to pair with the new Auracast Bluetooth broadcast system. This new system will allow Beltone hearing aid users to connect with a public address system for better audio anywhere — from a football game to a religious service to a movie theater and more.
Free trial
“All our hearing aids are on a free trial,” Serig explained. “We’re not a high-pressure or a sales environment. A trial doesn’t cost customers a penny. And in more than 40 years, we’ve never stuck anybody with a hearing aid they weren’t happy with.”
Lifetime follow-up and care
After a hearing aid fitting, the customer comes in every week for the first month. They make adjustments until they get closer and closer to the perfect fit. The customer returns in another month for further evaluation.
When the customer is satisfied that their hearing aids meet their needs, they shift to a maintenance schedule to come in for adjustments, cleanings or whatever they need, Serig said. “We provide this lifetime service at no cost, which is different from our competitors.”
Protect your hearing and your health
The connection between hearing loss and dementia is a compelling reason to test your hearing and address any loss right away, Serig noted. “Hearing loss puts the central cortex of the brain into hyperdrive. Hearing aids can help slow the process of cognitive loss.”
Qualified, compassionate staff
The board-certified hearing instrument specialists at Beltone are very talented and compassionate. “We usually get people in for an appointment within a day or two and we work with most insurance plans,” Serig said.
