Jeff and Andy, HVAC technician installers at All Comfort Services, installed a Lennox heat pump and a high-efficiency Lennox gas furnace for a customer in Madison.
Heating and cooling can account for nearly half of your home’s energy usage. But today, new technology, including Wi-Fi and smart thermostats, is making home heating and cooling much more efficient. And thanks to a bevy of tax credits and incentives, homeowners can begin to feel the temperature change that much sooner.
According to Eric Sherwood, general manager at All Comfort Services, this combination of smart home tech, credits, incentives and even advanced filters has resulted in higher energy efficiency, lower costs, increased comfort and better indoor air quality.
All Comfort Services currently has three programs, in addition to financing options, available for homeowners. The Inflation Reduction Act, which includes the Home Electrification and Appliances Rebate, nicknamed HEAR, provides 100 percent of up to $14,000 in instant discounts to low- and moderate-income households. Through Dec. 31 of this year, homeowners can also benefit from an up to $2,000 credit for air source heat pumps as part of a federal tax credit. Sherwood recommends checking the company’s website for additional savings opportunities including Lennox HVAC rebates, coupons and offers.
Consumers can save up to $11,000 off the price of a Lennox heat pump and gas furnace. Sherwood said homeowners should consult a tax expert about the requirements for qualifying for the various credits. The resulting credits are claimed during a homeowner’s federal income tax filing during the year in which the upgrade is made.
For homeowners considering an electric vehicle charger, there are up to $1,000 (up to 30% of the cost) in federal tax credits if it is installed by June 30, 2026. Again, customers must consult their tax professional in order to identify if they qualify.
Whether it’s during a routine service call or in response to a requested appointment, All Comfort Services’ comfort consultants can provide information on the different heating and cooling systems suitable for the specific home, as well as the incentives for which the homeowner may qualify.
Nick, an electrician from All Comfort Services, installed a meter socket and riser piping for a customer in Stoughton. Funds for the installation, which was part of a 200 AMP service upgrade, came from the Inflation Reduction Act, Wisconsin, and Focus on Energy’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate program.
Sherwood remains impressed with the advancements made in the field over the last few years.
“Technology has changed so often, and it’s become so incredibly beneficial for the homeowners,” he said. “Years ago, thermostats had on-off buttons that turned our heaters and air conditioners on. They’d run for a while and then shut off. Programmable thermostats came next and allowed us to program simple changes, such as setting back the heat or cool air during the night, or when you were on vacation, for example. Today’s smart versions are fully communicating Wi-Fi programs that allow the systems to work in single stage, two stage or completely variable with multiple stages.”
As part of the new tech dashboards connected to the latest model of thermostats, All Comfort Services’ customers have the option to allow the company to receive alerts if anything appears to be amiss with their system. This is in addition to the alerts homeowners can get on the app.
