The new Moxy Madison downtown by Marriott Hotels and Resorts and NCG
For fun-seekers looking for a little more color, action and playfulness — think Moxy.
From the complimentary mocktail/cocktail received at the bar during check-in to the casual game-focused lobby and vibrantly designed rooms, there’s a place for every guest to have an adventure that’s anything but ordinary.
Located in the heart of Madison, the boutique hotel is within walking distance of The Sylvee, Breese Stevens Field, the Wisconsin State Capitol and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Steps away is the vibrant East Washington neighborhood filled with local dining, nightlife and live music venues.

Owned and operated by NCG Hospitality, the hotel’s vibe is not happenstance, but reflected in the company’s deep local roots, decades of experience and its own core values of fun and a people-first culture.
For Jen Yakimicki Guimond, vice president of commercial services, the Moxy brand has always been rooted in “fun and play.”
“What differentiates us is our prioritizing a high-energy social scene for guests, whether they’re music lovers, foodies, sports fans or just travelers looking for some unique leisure,” Guimond said.
And the energy starts the moment a guest walks in. Unlike having a formal desk, guests check in at Bar Moxy, an actual cocktail bar that offers a complimentary cocktail or mocktail, along with the room key. The lobby itself is designed as a living room with foosball, air hockey and arcade games, fostering a unique community atmosphere. Flexible sectional seating can be arranged to meet group needs and size. The hotel’s 24/7 fitness center includes a rock-climbing wall, while the second-floor Green Room offers a flexible space for guests to work or unwind.
The vibe continues in the rooms. Instead of standard items such as desks, closets and mini-fridges, Moxy rooms feature pops of bright color, wall-mounted pegs and under-bed storage. Three suites — Rockstar, Victorian and Mastermind — offer themed variations of stays. The Rockstar suite, for example, features a chair in the shape of red lips, a record player with a selection of albums, and a panther statue with a leather choker on it. A more upscale look gives the Victorian suite an aura perfect for wedding day festivities, while a wall of books and Mathematician wallpaper provides a distinct academia feel in the Mastermind suite.
Moxy’s rooftop bar and restaurant, Atico, offers tasty Latin American fusion dishes, as well as fantastic views of Lake Monona and Breese Stevens Field. Guests can also access 24/7 grab-and-go snacks in the lobby.
And then there’s the art — starting with the seven-story mural column of colors that graces the outside of the hotel. Inside, the same colors are featured on the rugs, couches, lounge chairs, throw pillows and bathroom hardware — all providing a vibrant space for any travel-weary guest. A wall of CDs with the words “Mad City” appears in the lobby.

Ongoing specials can include anything from the Paws N Pamper Pet Package that comes with a collapsible water bowl, waste bags and tennis ball to a Sip N Stay package. Trivia nights, dog club nights, tarot card events and drag show bingo are just a few of the events Moxy hosts in the lobby on any given day.
