The 2025 PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship, featuring some of professional golf’s legends of the game, will take place June 6 through June 8 at TPC Wisconsin in Madison. The ninth edition of the AmFam Champ highlights two significant changes, sure to get an enthusiastic response from all fans.
First, the tournament moves to TPC Wisconsin, a new host golf course on Madison’s north side. The course was co-designed by Wisconsin native, 2023 tournament champion and tournament host Steve Stricker.
Second, the AmFam Champ will debut a new, unique format exclusive to the PGA TOUR Champions. A field of 76 players, organized into 38 teams of two, will participate in a 54-hole competition. Players will compete in two rounds of team best ball format, while debuting one round of scramble format, bringing new energy with low scores.
“With this tournament moving to a new course in 2025, it’s an ideal time to try a new format as well,” said Stricker. “I was honored to play in and serve as captain at both the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup, which showcased the excitement that team golf brings. This format adds a level of intrigue and competition to the game. We appreciate how the Madison community has embraced the AmFam Champ, and the new format and course will continue to provide a unique experience for our fans.”
All previous AmFam Champ winners are scheduled to attend in 2025 (listed below with competition partner):
2016: Kirk Triplett / Paul Broadhurst
2017: Fred Couples / Jay Haas
2018: Scott McCarron / Ken Tanigawa
2019 & 2021: Jerry Kelly / Justin Leonard
2022: Thongchai Jaidee / Brendan Jones
2023: Steve Stricker / Mario Tiziani
2024: Ernie Els / Tim Herron
The final tournament field will be officially announced on Friday, May 30.
While a few new tournament elements are being introduced in 2025, the core purpose of this professional sporting event remains the same: to create a significant economic impact in the local community by raising millions of dollars for charity.
Since 2016, $19.7 million of charitable proceeds have been distributed through more than 1,000 grants to the American Family Children’s Hospital and other nonprofit organizations that create daily meaningful and positive impacts on families and children.
“We believe the new format, in addition to the new course location, will create an exciting atmosphere and help us continue to host one of the best events on the PGA TOUR Champions,” said Bill Westrate, American Family chair and CEO. “We’re proud of the millions of dollars we’ve raised for charitable organizations since 2016, and that primary objective remains. We look forward to building on our historic success while continuing to make tournament enhancements to ensure we’re hosting a premier event for players, caddies, sponsors, fans and volunteers.”
