Four former University of Wisconsin women's hockey players won gold in South Korea as the Americans ended a 20-year gold-medal drought in women's hockey by beating Canada 3-2 in the first shootout in an Olympic women's final.

The loss ended Canada's bid for a fifth-straight title and brought heartbreak to the members of Team Canada, including its five current and former UW players: forwards Blayre Turnbull, Sarah Nurse and Emily Clark, defenseman Meaghan Mikkelson and backup goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens.
