Pyeongchang Olympics Ice Hockey Men

Former Badgers player Cody Goloubef shows off his Olympic bronze medal after Canada beat the Czech Republic on Saturday.

Rene Bourque and Cody Goloubef became the 11th and 12th former University of Wisconsin men's hockey players to win an Olympic medal, even if it wasn't the color they were looking for.

Goloubef had two assists and was plus-4 in Canada's 6-4 victory over the Czech Republic on Saturday in the bronze medal game in Gangneung, South Korea.

Bourque added an assist for the Canadians, who were stunned by Germany in the semifinals on Friday.

They became the first former Badgers players to win Olympic bronze.

Bourque finished the tournament with three goals and an assist in six games. The two assists Saturday were Goloubef's only Olympic points.

Milwaukee's Brian Hansen finished 10th of 12 competitors in the first semifinal of the first men's mass start event and didn't qualify for the final.

The top eight finishers from each semifinal advanced.
