River Valley senior Zach Licht suffered his first loss of the year, but helped the Blackhawks finish fourth in the eight-team Norski Invitational wrestling tournament held Saturday in DeForest.

Licht (now 31-1) dropped a 15-5 major decision to Hartland Arrowhead sophomore Keegan O’Toole (20-1) in the final at 132 pounds.

River Valley junior Shane Liegel improved to 32-0 on the season with three pin victories at 170 pounds. The Blackhawks got runner-up finishes from Jimmy Jennings at 106 and Devan Alt at 138. DeForest’s Austin Rauls finished second at 152.

Lake Geneva Badger Scramble

Middleton finished third and Sun Prairie fourth in the 11-team tournament, with Waterford finishing on top.

Middleton junior Kevin Meicher improved to 29-0 on the season by going 5-0 at 152 pounds, and the Cardinals got runner-up finishes from Remington Lockwood at 160 and Dion Huff at 195.

Sun Prairie’s Drew Scharenbrock improved to 31-0 on the season, winning the title at 145 pounds, and teammate Mason Smith took second at 220. Oregon junior Steele Mellum won at 126 pounds.

Beaver Dam wrestlers earned three individual titles and teamed up for a third-place overall finish in the 11-team tournament at Brookfield Central. Sparta and Oak Creek earned the top two team spots.

Winning for the Golden Beavers were sophomore Dietrich Jaeckel (24-4) at 113 pounds, senior Dylan Surprise (20-7) at 132 and senior Matt Piekarski (18-6) at 285.

Marshall’s Justin Chadwick (29-3) won the championship at 220 pounds, with four pins and a technical fall, and Dylan Horstmeyer (24-7) won the title at 152 to help the Cardinals take second in the 13-team tournament at North Fond du Lac. West Bend East won with 184.5 points.

Marshall also got runner-up finishes from Ethan Parsons at 106, Kale Grossman at 126 and Parker Ellickson at 285.

Johnson Creek took fourth in the team chase, led by runner-up finishes from Tucker Roehl at 132 and Lucas Sullivan at 195.

Gabe Kingsley won the individual title at 126 pounds and Travis Hudack earned five pin victories to win at 182, helping Wisconsin Dells finish second behind Viroqua in the 16-team tournament in Cazenovia.

The Chiefs got a runner-up finsh from Chester Isaacson at 220. Also for Wisconsin Dells, Gavin Kingsley took third at 132, Sabastian Kontaxis was third at 160 and Hunter Stenson took third at 170.

River Valley got runner-up finishes from Haydn Walsh at 120 and Rowen Wipperfurth at 126. Cambridge’s Jonathan Jones took third at 113.
