Madison Memorial senior Olivia Bloomer has committed for women’s swimming to the University of Minnesota.

Bloomer (sprints, butterfly) committed as a recruited walk-on with the Golden Gophers, Madison Memorial athletic director Jeremy Schlitz announced Tuesday.

She is a four-year letter winner, academic All-American, all-state honorable mention and 2016 Big Eight Conference champion in the 100 freestyle, Schlitz said.

At the 2017 WIAA Division 1 state girls swimming and diving meet, Bloomer was eighth in the 50 freestyle, ninth in the 100 freestyle and part of Madison Memorial teams that finished sixth in the 400 free relay and seventh in the 200 medley relay.
