The defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Verona boys hockey team earned a sectional berth on Friday with a 5-1 victory over Tomah/Sparta in a regional final at the Tomah Ice Center.
Josh Osting scored twice and Andrew Aune, Reece Cordray and Nathan Jurrens added goals for the Wildcats (8-4-0), who took a 3-0 lead in the second period and got the final two goals to pull away against the Timberwolves (11-6-0).
Kaden Grant made 23 saves for Verona.
Waunakee 8, Onalaska co-op 6
Mason Manglitz scored twice in the first minute of the third period to give the Hilltoppers (13-2-0) a 6-4 lead, but the Warriors (11-2-0) scored four times in the game’s final 12½ minutes to win a regional title. Isaac Nett finished with four goals and an assist for the winners, and Pavel Rettig had two goals and two assists. Logan Walmer made 18 saves for Waunakee.

Luke Mast tallied two goals and an assist to allow the Eagles (13-1-0) to knock off the visiting Cheavers (12-8-0). Caden Brandt tied it up with a goal in the third for Reedsburg, but Hakon Peterson quickly retaliated and left the Cheavers with no other chances to score.
Monroe 65, Beaver Dam 52
Cade Meyer scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half and J.T. Seagraves added 17 points as the visiting Cheesemakers (12-1), ranked No. 4 in Division 2, used a 31-23 run in the second half to pull away from the Golden Beavers (14-5). Nate Abel scored 24 points and Brady Helbing 12 for Beaver Dam.
Waunakee 85, DeForest 61
The Warriors (11-4) dominated both halves over the Norskies (8-4), with Andrew Keller scoring 18 points. Joey Fuhremann added 15 points for Waunakee. Max Weisbrod had 21 points for DeForest.
Oregon 59, Union Grove 58
Junior guard Ryne Panzer hit a 25-foot shot at the final buzzer to lift the visiting Panthers (4-5) over the Broncos (7-14). Panzer finished with 27 points, and Casey Schoenecker added 12. Union Grove got 13 points from Kaden Pfeiffer.
Reedsburg 76, Baraboo 35
History was made for both teams despite the runaway victory for the Beavers (14-1), ranked third in Division 2. Reedsburg junior guard Mahra Wieman broke the 1,000 point career mark, scoring 24 points. For the Thunderbirds, senior guard Maya White Eagle, a transfer from Madison Memorial, passed the 1,000-point barrier after a 19-point effort.
Sauk Prairie 43, DeForest 42
The visiting Norskies (7-6) held a 38-31 lead over the Eagles (9-7) with seven minutes to go, but Naomi Breunig scored seven points of her own over the next four minutes to tie the game. Olivia Breunig hit a 3-pointer with 2:51 to go, and Sauk Prairie held on. Naomi Breunig finished with 12 points to lead the Eagles, and Aspin Kelliher had 12 for DeForest.
