The WIAA and PMI Entertainment group announced Wednesday that they have agreed to a contract extension that will keep the girls state basketball tournament and the girls state volleyball tournament at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon through 2025.
The current deal was set to expire in 2020.
The girls volleyball tournament has been held at the Resch Center since 2002 and the basketball tournament since 2013.
In January, the Board of Control approved the move of the boys state volleyball tournament to the Resch Center for a four-year commitment beginning in 2019.
“Our experience since 2002, and again since 2013, has been captured in the little details,” WIAA executive director Dave Anderson said. “The little things that have allowed us to recognize what a great home, what great people, and what a great fit this venue and everyone here and around here has been for our tournaments.”
The girls basketball tournament has averaged about 40,000 fans per year and has brought a $2.5 million economic impact for the Green Bay area. The girls volleyball tournament draws about 20,000 fans with an economic impact of roughly $700,000.
