In 1932, the New Glarus boys basketball team cruised to the State Line League championship and went 15-0 in the regular season.
The team then beat Madison West and Evansville in district play to earn a berth in the WIAA state tournament.
At state, New Glarus beat Hudson, 15-11, in the opening game of the 16-team tournament. In the quarterfinals, De Pere beat New Glarus, 30-19, ending New Glarus' season.
The team was coached by Emil "Chick" Bruni, who played on the 1925 New Glarus team that finished fourth in the state tournament. The team's only other state trip came in 1918 — until this year.
Today, 89 years later, New Glarus (24-2) will take on top-seeded, defending champion Manitowoc Roncalli (26-0) in a 6:35 p.m. WIAA state semifinal at the Kohl Center.
