With the 2018 recruiting cycle not yet completed, the University of Wisconsin football team already picked up its sixth verbal commitment from the 2019 class.

The Bullis School (Md.) safety Bryson Shaw pledged to the Badgers via Twitter on Saturday night after originally committing to play lacrosse at Maryland.

Shaw, a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247sports' composite rankings, hails from the same high school as current UW safety Patrick Johnson.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Shaw reportedly had football offers from West Virginia, Northwestern, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Rutgers, among others, and is currently on an unofficial visit to Madison.

Shaw joins offensive linemen Logan Brown and Joe Tippmann, quarterback Graham Mertz, running back Julius Davis and athlete Leo Chenal as scholarship commitments in the Badgers' 2019 recruiting class.
