Like it did in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls earlier in the week, the University of Wisconsin moved up one spot to No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday night on ESPN.

Alabama maintained the top spot in the rankings, followed by Clemson, Michigan, Washington, Ohio State and Louisville.

The top four in the rankings at the end of the season will make the playoffs and have an opportunity to win the national championship.

The Badgers are coming off a 21-7 win at Northwestern and will advance to the Big Ten Championship game if they beat Illinois, Purdue and Minnesota over the next three weeks.
