University of Wisconsin inside linebacker T.J. Edwards remained out of practice Wednesday but was no longer wearing a walking boot.
Edwards, who led the Badgers with 84 tackles as a redshirt freshman last season, injured his left foot during summer workouts. His status for UW's season opener against LSU on Sept. 3 remains in doubt.
The Badgers are deep at the position, as Chris Orr and Jack Cichy could fill in if Edwards misses game time.
Here are some other notes and observations from UW's eighth open practice of fall camp:
-- The quarterbacks, as usual, were up and down throughout practice. Houston appeared to be the better performer today, although neither were overly impressive. Here are some stats for the two from Wednesday:
Houston: 19-32, INT (Keelon Brookins)
Hornibrook: 13-29, INT (Ryan Connelly)
The team drill stats were hurt by a high number of drops from UW receivers, tight ends and running backs. Hornibrook's interception was due to a drop by wide receiver Robert Wheelwright.
The highlight of the day may have been when Hornibrook rifled a perfect deep pass to wide receiver George Rushing that would have resulted in a long touchdown. Rushing also fumbled after a catch, courtesy of nice strip by cornerback Derrick Tindal.
-- True freshmen Sam Brodner and Jack Dunn saw a couple first-team reps at running back and wide receiver, respectively.
-- Today's injury report was a big one (New injuries are bold):
- WR Quintez Cephus (right leg)
- OL Jon Dietzen (head)
- ILB T.J. Edwards (left foot)
- FB Alec Ingold (right leg)
- WR Henry Houden (head)
- RB Dare Ogunbowale (right leg)
- OL George Panos (right shoulder)

Wide receiver Jazz Peavy wore a yellow, non-contact jersey but was not listed as limited on the injury report. Left guard Dan Voltz and right tackle Jacob Maxwell were also given the day off. Maxwell, who had foot surgery earlier this summer, was wearing a walking boot but is expected to be fine.
