The teams’ most recent meeting came in 2010, an 80-56 win for the Badgers. … D'Mitrik Trice had nine points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals against UW-Oshkosh before leaving the game with an injured ankle. … The Badgers’ starters went 15 of 18 from the line against the Titans. … UW has won 15 of its past 16 season openers. The only defeat was a 69-67 decision against visiting Western Illinois to start the 2015-16 campaign.

Player to watch: Senior swingman Lamar Morgan averaged 12.3 points and 5.1 rebounds to earn All-MEAC honors last season. Morgan shot 37.0 percent from 3-point range and 81.4 percent from the free throw line.

Eagles coach Juan Dixon was a star on Maryland’s 2002 national title team. He scored 29 points in an 87-57 win over UW in the second round of that championship run. … Dixon’s first season began with 17 consecutive defeats before the Eagles beat Florida A&M 79-78 in two overtimes. … Dejuan Clayton was a preseason All-MEAC selection last season but was limited to six games due to a shoulder injury. He averaged 12.4 points and a team-high 3.1 assists as a freshman.
