If the Badgers are going to win a national title in April, they’ll most likely have to go through one (or more) of the following four teams (National title odds from Bovada are in parenthesis):
Duke (4/1): The Blue Devils appear poised to make a run at their second title in three seasons. Joining national player of the year candidate Grayson Allen are returnees Amile Jefferson, Luke Kennard and Matt Jones are a group of talented freshmen, including three of the top 10 players in the 2016 class according to ESPN. The cream of that blue-chip crop, forward Harry Giles, will start the season on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Kentucky (15/2): John Calipari welcomes in another loaded recruiting class. This one is led by power forward Bam Adebayo, point guard De’Aaron Fox and shooting guard Malik Monk
Kansas (10/1): The Jayhawks have won 12 consecutive Big 12 titles, but they’re looking for their first national title since 2008. Returning from a team that was the No. 1 overall seed last March but failed to reach the Final Four are guards Devonte’ Graham and Frank Mason. However, the team’s star may turn out to be freshman guard Josh Jackson, a McDonald’s All-American.
Villanova (10/1): The Wildcats cut down the nets last April in Houston after Kris Jenkins made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to seal a 77-74 victory over North Carolina. Jenkins is back, as is senior guard Josh Hart and sophomore guard Jalen Brunson. Replacing Ryan Arcidiacono, the heart and soul of that championship team, won’t be easy, however.
