The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball nonconference schedule has been released, and the Badgers will kick off their season Nov. 9. UW will end nonconference play Dec. 29 against Illinois State before beginning Big Ten play.
After a year of irregularities because of COVID-19 the Badgers released their nonconference schedule Tuesday — a pre-covid type of schedule, too. Fans will have to wait to find out the Big Ten schedule until later this summer, but the location of all conference games have been decided.
UW will play Big Ten foes Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue and Rutgers both home and away. The Badgers will face Illinois, Maryland and Northwestern on the road. They’ll host Iowa, Michigan and Penn State.
Georgia Tech is the only team on UW’s nonconference slate that made the NCAA Tournament last season. Nicholls State just missed out on the madness when Abilene Christian beat the Colonels in the Southland Conference tournament.
The Badgers also are set to play fellow instate schools UW-Whitewater, Green Bay and Marquette.
Complete tip times and broadcast information will be released at a later date.
Here’s a breakdown of the rest of the nonconference schedule:
