The Badgers will take part in the Maui Invitational on Nov. 21-23, a top-heavy event that features four of the top 16 teams in the preseason coaches’ poll: No. 5 Oregon, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 10 UW and No. 16 Connecticut.
UW opens play vs. Tennessee in a quarterfinal, then will meet either Oregon or Georgetown the following day.
This will be the Badgers’ third appearance in the event.
In 2009, UW took third place after sandwiching wins over Arizona and Maryland around a semifinal loss to Gonzaga.
In 1995-96, Dick Bennett’s first season as coach, the Badgers salvaged a seventh-place finish with a victory over Chaminade after opening the event with losses to Villanova and UCLA.
