Badgers fans on Twitter cautiously optimistic after Wisconsin dominates Northwestern
Wisconsin State Journal reporter Jim Polzin found a fanbase in slightly better spirits after asking Badgers fans on Twitter what they thought of No. 21 Wisconsin's 68-51 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in a Big Ten battle Sunday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.
Here's what fans were saying after the Badgers ended a two-game skid in convincing fashion:
Milestone performance
It was nice seeing the Badgers work for shots tonight and not shooting 3’s all the time. The flow of the offense is so much better when they go inside out more often. Also, congratulations @DMitrikTrice0! Top 4 assists! That young man has put together a stellar @BadgerMBB career!

Let the countdown begin!
There isn't much to be gained from a trip to suburban Chicago on a Sunday evening in late February, but here's hoping Bucky takes the boost in confidence from a solid win at Northwestern and makes it all worthwhile. Just 21 days until Selection Sunday.

Playing musical chairs
Potter and Davis need to start with Wahl, Davison and Trice. Can’t sit two of your top 3 for first 4/5 mins every half. Davison and Wahl are a nice piece. If they play like that, granted was NU, they can hang with most teams. Just not sure enough offense to really make a run

And the answer is ...
Dumb
— Travis Trice (@trice_travis) February 22, 2021
Softening the blow
I don’t think it told us too much, but it was still nice to see that the collapse isn’t quite as severe as it seemed like it might be

We have a winner!

A truer test awaits
Obviously it’s NW so let’s not get too excited
— chuckwestover (@chuckwestover) February 22, 2021
Davis needs to join the starting 5 with Wahl, Potter, Trice and then either Davison / Ford
He’s too good to sit and provides too much energy, scoring, rebounding and hustle
Huge game on Sat - we need a W against a top B1G team
Just a jumping-off point
Good to see them going after 50/50 plays and winning majority of them. Those plays were key to the success tonight. Now hopefully will transition to the rest of the season.

It's a numbers game
Wahl, Trice, Potter shot 72% - why you won
— Andrew Zimdars (@andrew_zimdars) February 22, 2021
Meanwhile Ford, Davison, and Reuvers shot 16%
It'll cure what ails ya
Amazing what playing tough D, taking good shots, and playing an unathletic mediocre team will do for a struggling team! Potter and Trice carried us early and Davis/Wahl brought it home. Thankful for the W.

Nothing's guaranteed
While no team in @B1GMBBall is an easy out, some are easier than others. @BadgerMBB beat a team it was supposed to beat. At this point of this season, that's good news.

All in this together
Confidence booster for the Badgers AND their fans (emphasis added!!). Continue to give Davis more minutes as he is the spark plug of this team. I liked the rebounding and defense tonight. Keep it going Badgers🏀

Toughest challenges await
Nice to get the W, hopefully it can get Bucky some momentum. Tough road ahead, time to see what this team is made of.

Finding a moment of fun
A good bounce back game and even a smile from Jonathan Davis after a beautiful move and layup to the bucket. Hope the boys can continue to find it against the Illini. Need a nice finish to the season to build momentum into Big10 tournament.

Cementing their legacies
Any win on the road in the B1G is a good win, even if it is at NW. Have to find a way to get one of the next three. Only 3-4 weeks left to see how this group of seniors will be remembered.

Apples and Orange
Good to see a win and a better played game but it was Northwestern, let’s see it against Illinois next. Big if.

Trying to find their footing
Huge! They needed this so bad. Maybe they can get some traction going forward.
— Scott (@CCSO228) February 22, 2021
Sure beats the alternative
NU doesn't guard like the top of the Big10. Good concentrated effort not settling for perimeter shots but too much dribbling. A step in the right direction.
— Jeremiah Paulson (@THEJPOFP2) February 22, 2021
No need to worry
That’s the Badger team I expect to see. Davis is gonna be a star. Good win.
— Charlie Grant (@Ctg2223) February 22, 2021
But are you sure it's not?
Middle of the pack team in the B1G beats a terrible team in the B1G. Feels sort of good but I’m not sure it’s a reason for optimism heading to March.

Getting the job done
I find it interesting how many people here are complaining about starting lineup. Potter came in and crushed it just fine off the bench. That’s what matters. 🤷🏼♀️
— Jessica Garvey (@j_garvey1213) February 22, 2021
It was good to get back in the win column. Hope we can see some more offense from Ford and Reuvers next game.
Straight to the point
Wahl can play defense, Potter & Davis were great off the bench. Ford was not in the flow. Reuvers should probably not be playing many minutes
— David Koller (@DavidBKoller) February 22, 2021
Fair enough
Win the games you're not expected to win, otherwise it's hard to get excited about these little "feel good" games.
— Matt Goins (@mbgoins) February 22, 2021
Keep it coming
The 10-0 run in the second half, and the way those points were created (i.e., did not come from chucking up 3s)... more of that please.
— SMcNamara (@SmcinMN) February 22, 2021
No complaints here
Needed to have it. Went out and dominated
