Trump lies, confuses and divides -- Roy Christianson

Trump lies, confuses and divides -- Roy Christianson

{{featured_button_text}}

Now President Donald Trump can be heard on tape admitting to journalist Bob Woodward that he lied about the dangers of COVID-19. His attempts to explain this as a way of avoiding panic are ridiculous.

And of course he says nothing about his unbelievable lack of coordinated effort to test, contact trace, develop personal protective equipment, and generally do all the things that have been done in other developed countries -- which, by the way, did not descend into the sort of mass hysteria he claims would have occurred had he been honest about the dangers of the virus.

I wonder how differently Americans might have embraced wearing masks and social distancing if they had been led properly by an honest and capable president. He also fails to discuss his frequent disagreements with our best scientific expertise along the way. I will credit him with one thing -- creating tremendous divisiveness and confusion throughout the country when we should have been pulling together to stop virus spread.
