Presidential leader would have won -- Larry Larmer

What if our stable genius had acted presidential at the start of the pandemic?

Instead of fretting about his economy, what if he had recognized the virus as an enemy to be defeated? What if he had marshalled all available resources and encouraged us all to take the available steps to defeat our common foe? Wouldn't the country be less divided -- nothing unifies a people like a common enemy.

What if he had praised our health care workers as though they were soldiers in this war? Wouldn't they get the recognition and thanks they deserve? Most of all, wouldn't fewer people be dead? (The death toll attributed to coronavirus is greater than the combat deaths in the Korean and Vietnam wars combined and about two-thirds the combat deaths in World War II.)

And if he had done all that, wouldn't he most probably have been reelected?

Hubris?
