Bible verse was used out of context -- Alan Vangen

The Nov. 17 letter to the editor "Moses would want us to stay at home" was based on Exodus 12:22 but took it out of context to fit the letter's narrative.

Moses received his directive from God. It was not his own. More important, the Israelites were told to place the blood of the lamb on the door posts and the top lintel. That was the most important instruction. Without that being done, it would not have mattered where they sheltered. The angel of death would have taken the first born of their family.

The very reason God sent Moses to Egypt was to free the Israelites from bondage and the dictates of a cruel Pharaoh. The letter seems to like the idea of being in bondage in one's own house. I happen to enjoy my freedom and can do so without affecting other people's health.

The real problem is not COVID-19, it's sin -- disobeying God. Without forgiveness, sin will ultimately lead to spiritual death and eternal separation from God. But we have a solution (and it's not a vaccine). It is Jesus.

Talk to God (pray), repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as your savior. That's the remedy.
