It was great to hear North Side residents express their happiness and pride over the opening of a new Goodwill store in their neighborhood.
But it doesn’t reflect well on Madison that we’ve allowed an area of our city to become what one resident described as a “poor community,” especially when so much wealth is elsewhere in the city and county.
The continued presence of the sprawling and noisy county airport on Madison’s North Side hurts the desirability of surrounding neighborhoods and has made them a continued target for low-income housing.
If you want to help make a difference in the lives of North Side residents and not promote environmental racism, please avoid using the county airport. At the same time you can make our city healthier, safer and more sustainable.
