Photos: Fire-damaged transformer moved

Using a system of hydraulic jacks, rails and a turntable, a crew from Reynolds Transfer and Storage inched a damaged 137-ton transformer through downtown Madison Wednesday from the Blount Street substation to a former Madison Gas & Electric coal yard, where engineers from American Transmission Company hope to determine what caused it to explode on July 19. The 600-foot journey was expected to take 12 to 13 hours as Reynolds pushed the transformer along lubricated rails.
