Where were all the lights, microphones, cameras, reporters and paid attendees to witness Gov. Scott Walker signing the bill dismantling the nonpartisan Government Accountability Board? The bill will unleash huge increases in dark money contributions to politicians.
Our unintimidated governor signed these bills behind closed doors with no fanfare hoping all of us stupid Wisconsinites would not notice another backroom bill signing. Where is our governor standing under the shining lights touting this as a big and bold idea? In reality, it devastates the hardworking residents of Wisconsin.
I suppose turning co-worker against co-worker, private employee against public employee, and family members against each other are the big bold ideas that warrant reporters and all the hoopla.
But without the GAB providing oversight, and with so much more money coming into the political arena, it appears our politicians are in a pretty secure position for as long as they wish. About the only thing that's left for Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and our governor is to end our open records laws.
