The people of Madison seem reluctant to stand by their convictions.
After the law change in Arizona, they cried “Wait — this may lead to profiling! We shouldn’t resort to perfectly legal measures to stop illegal immigrants from entering and living in the country.”
Yet when they encounter a policy that doesn’t fall into their categorized little world, they are the first to jump up and begin profiling. People carrying guns in holsters? “My goodness — they must be convicted felons, call the police.” Sounds like profiling to me.
They were carrying guns, which is perfectly legal. Well, give them disorderly conduct tickets to show them that, while it is legal, we don’t appreciate it.
The purpose of the U.S. Constitution was to protect the rights of individuals nationwide so we would not be at the mercy of the whims of those who can cry the loudest and cause the biggest scene. The Constitution never claimed to be a document that was going to make everyone happy, just perfectly equal.
