What a great article on Saturday on Bassam Shakhashiri. Upon our arrival in Madison over 12 years ago, we had the unique and wonderful opportunity to attend “Once upon a Christmas cheery.”
My children, grandchildren, wife and I enjoyed one of the greatest shows on earth.
Shakhashiri is as noble as one can get. Witnessing his excitement after so many years of teaching and presenting tells the whole story. He has probably sent some of our best future scientists forward with a love and understanding of chemistry they could not have gotten without attending his classes.
His public radio broadcasts, hosted by another great, Larry Meiller, testify to our having moved to one of the best cities in America.
I hope Shakhashiri has the stamina to go on for years to come so my grandchildren can continue to enjoy the explosions, hissing, flashes and — oh, yeah — the educational component as well. All teachers should take a lesson and get on with the show, I mean, the education.
