One person has been taken to a local hospital following a plane crash just outside Lodi, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

The 73-year-old Dane man piloting the plane suffered minor injuries, Sheriff Dennis Richards said.

The Sonex 393 plane crashed in the town of Lodi near the 1400 block of Fair Street at about 2:15 p.m.

It crashed into a field on its descent to Lodi Lakeland Airport and struck some trees on the way down, Richards said.

No property was damaged except for the trees, he said.

No other injuries were reported.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
