Sauk County squad tighter crop

A wood stove in the basement is being looked at as the possible cause of a house fire in Sauk County early Monday morning, with nobody injured in the blaze.

The fire was reported at about 12:45 a.m. at E859 Highway EE in the town of Woodland, the Sauk County Sheriff's Office said.

"All the occupants had safely made it out of the house," said Sheriff Chip Meister.

First responders found the house engulfed in flames.

"Despite efforts to extinguish the blaze the structure is considered a total loss," Meister said.

No damage estimate was given.

Assisting at the scene were fire departments from Cazenovia and Wonewoc, as well as the Cazenovia EMS.
