The 6th annual Loop the Lake Bike Ride starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Olbrich Park. The family-friendly, 12-mile loop around Lake Monona supports the Clean Lakes Alliance.

Loop the Lake

The sixth annual Loop the Lake Bike Ride will start at 10 a.m. Saturday. The ride begins and ends at Olbrich Park, 3527 Atwood Ave. This family-friendly 12-mile loop around Lake Monona supports the Clean Lakes Alliance. Afterward, join Paddle & Portage and the Shoreline Swim for a celebration at Olbrich Park. Cost: $35 per rider; free for children under 10. Information: cleanlakesalliance.org.

Learn to backpack

Attend the Learn to Backpack workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Marshall Park, 2101 Allen Blvd. In partnership with REI, Madison Parks will offer this free workshop to provide an overview of planning, prepping and packing. Learn how to choose a pack, and which clothing and footwear is best for each type of adventure. Advanced registration is requested online at www.cityofmadison.com/parks or by phone at 608-266-4711.

Learn to skateboard

Madison Parks is offering a Learn to Skateboard class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Park, 215 S. Brearly St. Representatives from Freedom Skate Shop will be on hand to teach participants. Bring your own skateboard and safety equipment; no equipment will be supplied. Advance registration is required for this free event. Farmers’ market

Buy locally grown produce, meats, eggs and dairy products from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Capitol View Farmers’ Market, 5901 Sharpsburg Drive, in the Grandview Commons neighborhood. Information: www.capitolviewfarmersmarket.com.
