A man was injured Wednesday night when an explosion reportedly happened inside a metal building on the city's East Side.

The explosion happened at about 11:15 p.m. at 56 Corry Street, the locale for a quonset style metal building and home of Sector67, a "maker space" workshop for entrepreneurs and hobbyists.

The injuries incurred by the man were not considered life threatening, the Madison Fire Department said.

The cause of the explosion was not determined by fire investigators, but police believe a beam fell and ruptured a propane gas tank, causing the small explosion.

"Aside from small flames that were easily extinguished with blasts from a water extinguisher, there was no active fire," said spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster.

The integrity of the structure had been compromised, according to investigators.
