Sue Erickson named CEO of UnityPoint Health-Meriter

  • 0

Sue Erickson, who has been chief operating officer at UnityPoint Health-Meriter, has been named chief executive officer, Meriter said Tuesday.

Arthur Nizza, CEO of the Madison hospital since February 2015, will continue as chief operating officer of Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, a position he started last year while also heading up Meriter.

Erickson has worked at Meriter for nearly 30 years, beginning her career in the laboratory.

“We are incredibly confident in Sue’s experience and her ability to lead Madison’s community hospital forward,” Dr. Bradley Manning, chair of Meriter’s board of directors, said in a statement. “She has the utmost respect of our physicians, staff, community members and partners at UW Health.”

Meriter and UW Health, which long collaborated on some services but increasingly competed against each other in recent years, became partners last year. A joint operating agreement gives them a shared financial bottom line.
