Scott Walker names Tom Evenson as his new spokesman

Gov. Scott Walker has named Tom Evenson, far right, as his new spokesman. Evenson previously served in that role and also as his campaign spokesman.

Gov. Scott Walker named a familiar new spokesman for his office Monday.

Tom Evenson, who has previously served as Walker's official spokesman, his campaign spokesman and most recently as communications director at the Department of Financial Institutions, is returning to Walker's office as deputy communications director and press secretary.

Evenson was previously Walker's official spokesman from April 2013 until March 2014, when he moved back to Walker's campaign ahead of Walker's successful 2014 re-election. He also served as a personal aide on Walker's short-lived presidential campaign last year.

He replaces Laurel Patrick, who is moving to a job in the Department of Administration.

Evenson's new salary will be $80,000, up from the $65,600 he was making in the same job two years ago. It's also a cut from his $89,000 salary at DFI.

Walker's office also recently brought aboard Jack Jablonski to serve as deputy chief of staff for communications, replacing Jocelyn Webster.
