The coliseum would likely see major renovations in plans to redevelop the Alliant Energy Center.

The Dane County Board will share plans and seek input for the Alliant Energy Center redevelopment at an open house next Tuesday.

Residents can learn about the current uses and potential changes of the Alliant Center and share their thoughts on the project from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 19 at the Exhibition Hall's upstairs lounge.

County Board Chairwoman Sharon Corrigan said intention of the open house is to engage county residents and businesses, particularly those from the area.

"We want to take a 'bottom up' approach that includes all stakeholders -- from the adjoining neighborhood to development interests," Corrigan said in a statement.

Visitors can browse through three stations focused on learning about the use and potential of the Alliant Center, gathering ideas and aspirations for the project, and gathering feedback on the preliminary plans in the works.

Free parking and children's activities will be provided during the open house.

Potential changes and improvements to the site include refurbishing the Coliseum, adding hotel facilities, improvements to Willow Island and creating streets through the campus that could include restaurants or other amenities.

Perkins+Will was contracted in March by the Comprehensive Master Plan Oversight Committee to create the master plan for the Alliant Center. The Committee expects improvements to be made in phases over several years.
