After a previous proposal was rejected by the Madison Plan Commission, a revised hotel plan for the former Pahl Tire site will move forward with its recommendation.
The Plan Commission on Monday recommended 5-3 a proposal from North Central Group to build a Marriott AC hotel featuring a lounge, restaurant and other public space at the corner of East Washington Avenue and North Webster Street.
The original proposal was rejected by the Plan Commission in September over concerns about height, shadows, valet parking, a requested easement along Webster Street, and the building's relation to the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Robert M. Lamp House.

After a three-month pause, North Central Group submitted an updated proposal for a 10-story, 164-room hotel in January.
The City Council must also approve the project.
