UW-Madison budget director Tim Norris is putting his calculator away.

The head of the budget office will be stepping down after 30 years at the state's flagship university, leading the budget office since 2004.

The budget director develops and manages the school's $3 billion annual budget.

"Tim's retirement marks the end of an outstanding career at UW-Madison," said Laurent Heller, vice chancellor for finance and administration. "He has protected our academic mission while making the budget process work for the university and for colleagues across the campus."

Jennifer Klippel, who joined the budget office in 2011, will serve as interim budget director. She previously worked at the UW System and also at the Legislative Audit Bureau.
