A new schedule to make up almost 32 hours of missed school time due to mold problems earlier this month will begin Monday at Middleton's Kromrey Middle School, according to a letter sent to parents Wednesday from superintendent Don Johnson.

For the remainder of the first semester — Monday through Jan. 24 — 16 minutes will be added at the beginning of each school day, putting school hours between 7:54 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Students will also attend school on Nov. 12, a parent-teacher conference day, and Jan. 24, a teacher work day. Conferences will be held outside of regular school hours, similar to second semester, the letter said.

The added hours build back two potential snow days that schools have district-wide, and are more hours than required by the state Department of Public Instruction. Students missed a total of 39.7 hours when mold was found in the school's cafeteria, four classrooms and a hallway in late August.

The adjusted daily schedule is available on Kromrey's website. New times for bus route 37, which will require a change due to the additional minutes, are available on the Bus Stop Locator.
