A Madison police officer used a Taser on a West High School student as the officer and staff members broke up a fight at the school Thursday, authorities said.
The Taser did not fully deploy, however, and the student was not harmed, police said.
Two students, 15- and 16-year-old boys, were cited for the fight, which involved a total of four students and started in a school gym just after noon, police spokesman Joel DeSpain said.

After staff members separated one of the teens from the fight, DeSpain said, he broke free from them and "aggressed on other students."
That prompted an MPD officer to deploy a Taser, police said.
"The situation was then quickly and safely brought under control," DeSpain said.
The student on whom the Taser was deployed was among those cited, police said.
