Mount Horeb police officer accused of sexually assaulting child repeatedly

A Mount Horeb police officer was arrested Wednesday on a tentative charge of sexual assault of a child, authorities said.

Dennis P. Jenks, 44, of Madison has been suspended from duty, Mount Horeb Police Chief Jeff Veloff said.

Jenks was being held Thursday in Dane County Jail.

Madison police said Jenks is accused of the repeated sexual assault of a 14-year-old child.

In addition to the Madison police investigation, the Mount Horeb Police Department is conducting an internal investigation.

Jenks has been employed by the Mount Horeb Police Department since 2000.
