Madison police are looking for two vehicles seen fleeing the scene of a gun fight early Thursday morning on the city's East Side, with one bullet piercing a home and striking a couch.

The shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Powers Avenue.

The 911 Center was called twice for shots fired in the Chicago Avenue and Powers Avenue area, with both callers saying they heard six shots.

"When officers arrived they found shell casings in the 3300 block of Chicago Avenue and damage to a residence on Powers Avenue," said Sgt. David Compton.

Nobody was injured.

Witness said two vehicles fled the scene, going north on Worthington Avenue.

No description of suspects was given.
