A Madison man who allegedly turned the theft of a woman's coat into auto theft and using her credit cards, was arrested Tuesday, three months after the crime.

Antjuan Weathers, 18, was tentatively charged with auto theft and credit card theft, Madison police said.

The incident happened Feb. 8 at East Towne Mall, when the 71-year-old Madison victim put her coat into a locker at the mall, but didn't pay to lock it, because she figured no one would want an old coat.

Her failure to lock the locker must have been seen by the suspect, because when she came back, the coat was gone, and when she went out to her car, it was gone as well, since she left the car keys in the coat.

The woman's purse also was gone since she had locked it in her car, and it didn't take long before her credit cards were being used.

Police used surveillance video images to help identify two suspects, with Weathers arrested following a traffic stop on East Washington Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
