A 17-year-old teenage boy showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg Saturday, according to police. 

Officers responded to the incident around 8:50 p.m., according Madison Police Chief Mike Koval's daily blog. 

Koval said what the teen has told police is inconsistent with what officers have found so far.

When officers searched the area the shooting was reported to have occurred, they found no witnesses or evidence, Koval said. 

Madison police are investigating the incident.
