Man shot at Far East Side motel, police searching for suspect

Madison police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night at a Far East Side motel that left one man with life-threatening injuries.

Lt. Kipp Hartman said the shooting was reported about 8:30 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn, 4830 Hayes Road.

The victim, who was found in the parking lot, was taken to a hospital where he was undergoing surgery for life-threatening injuries, Hartman said.

Police were still looking for a suspect who fled on foot. A police dog was used in an attempt to find the suspect, Hartman said.
