"She is a long-time Madison resident, very well liked and well respected in the community," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

Walker was the first officer on scene after O'Kroley was seen outside a store near East Towne Mall. The two exchanged gunfire before O'Kroley ran to the back of the store, where he was found hiding in a Dumpster.

O'Kroley is facing homicide charges after he allegedly shot and killed Caroline Nosal, 24, of Stoughton on Tuesday night, in the parking lot of Metro Market on the Far East Side.
