Madison police: Man hospitalized following early morning Downtown fight

A man was hospitalized for serious injuries after a fight Downtown early Saturday morning, the Madison Police Department said.

Officers were called to ongoing fight in the 400 block of North Frances Street around 1:40 a.m., police Sgt. Ryan Gibson said in a statement. When police arrived, the suspect had left the area, leaving a 28-year-old victim with serious injuries to his head and face, Gibson said.

The man was taken to a hospital, Gibson said, and police continue to investigate the battery.
